Installation Instructions

Follow these steps for a clean, bubble-free, long-lasting install. Take your time — a 20-minute job done right beats a 5-minute job done twice.

Best conditions: Apply in a shaded area between 60–90°F (15–32°C). Cold vinyl gets stiff and won't conform. Hot surfaces cause the adhesive to grab too fast, making repositioning impossible. Never apply in direct sunlight or on a freshly washed wet surface.

Step-by-step installation

Clean the surface thoroughly
Wash the area with soap and water to remove dirt and grime. Follow up by wiping down with isopropyl alcohol on a clean microfiber cloth. Let it dry completely — at least 2–3 minutes. Any oils, wax, or residue left on the surface will prevent the adhesive from bonding properly.
Do not skip this step. Wax, ceramic coating residue, or silicone products are the #1 cause of decal failure and lifting edges. If your car has been recently waxed, clean the spot twice with IPA.

Plan your placement
Before peeling anything, hold the decal (still on its backing) against the surface. Use masking tape as a hinge along one edge to mark your exact position. Step back and confirm the placement looks right from a distance. Measure if needed. This is the only step where mistakes are free.
Pro tip: Take a photo with your phone before you start peeling. If you lose your reference point mid-install, you'll thank yourself.

Peel the backing — slowly
Starting from one corner, peel the paper backing away at a low angle (roughly 30–45°). The decal and its transfer tape should remain together. If any part of the design stays stuck to the backing, lay it flat and rub firmly over that area with a card, then try again.
Cold vinyl alert: If your decal feels stiff or brittle, warm it gently with a hair dryer for 15–20 seconds before peeling. Cold adhesive tears and doesn't conform.

Apply the decal
Using your tape hinge as a guide, lay the decal onto the surface starting from the hinged edge. Work across slowly, pressing down as you go. Use your squeegee or card to smooth it out firmly from the center outward — this pushes out air and seats the adhesive.
Wet method (for large decals): Mist the clean surface lightly with soapy water before applying. This gives you 60–90 seconds to slide and reposition before the adhesive grabs. Squeegee out all moisture completely after placing.

Remove the transfer tape
Once the decal is firmly pressed down, peel the transfer tape back slowly at a low angle. If any part of the design lifts with the tape, press it back down, rub firmly over it, and try again. Work slowly — there's no rush here.
Stubborn corners? Apply gentle heat with a hair dryer and press the corner down firmly before attempting to peel the transfer tape again.

Final press & cure time
Once the transfer tape is off, do one final pass with your squeegee across the entire decal. For curved or complex surfaces, apply gentle heat and stretch the vinyl lightly to conform — then press firmly and hold for a few seconds.

Let it cure for 24 hours before washing your car. Avoid high-pressure car washes for 72 hours after installation.
Cold weather install? Cure time extends in colder temps. Give it 48 hours before washing if temps were below 65°F during install.

PPF is a different beast. Unlike vinyl decals, paint protection film is thicker, self-healing, and much less forgiving of poor prep or rushing. Done right, it's nearly invisible and protects your paint for years. Take your time with every step.

Designed for DIY. Larger pieces like full bumpers are split into two sections so you can align and apply each piece comfortably on your own. Work one section at a time, take your time with placement, and you'll get a seamless result.

Step-by-step installation

Deep clean the paint
Wash the entire vehicle thoroughly. Clay bar the panels you're wrapping to remove any embedded contaminants. Follow up with 91%+ isopropyl alcohol to remove all wax, sealants, and oils. The paint surface must be completely clean and bare — PPF adhesive will not bond over anything.
Critical: Do not apply PPF over ceramic coatings, wax, or paint sealant without fully stripping them first. The film will lift within weeks. If the car has been ceramic coated, consult a professional.

Set up your environment
Work indoors or in a shaded garage. Ideal temperature is 65–80°F (18–27°C). Close any doors or fans — wind is the enemy of PPF installation. Dust and debris can get trapped under the film permanently. Lay down a clean work surface for handling the film.
PPF is not forgiving of heat or cold. Below 60°F the film won't conform or bond. Above 90°F it grabs too quickly. Environment control is not optional.

Pre-soak the panel & the film
Liberally spray the panel with your slip solution (a few drops of baby shampoo in a spray bottle of water). This lets you slide and reposition the film before it locks down. Spray the adhesive side of the film as well before placing it.
More slip solution is better than less. You want a generous wet surface to slide the film around. You'll squeegee it all out later.

Position the film
Peel the liner from the film and lay it adhesive-side down onto the wet panel. Slide it into final position — you have a few minutes before the slip solution starts to evaporate and the film begins to grab. Check alignment on all edges before proceeding.
For pre-cut kits: Reference the edge lines on the film against panel gaps and body lines. Most kits have small alignment indicators built in. For multi-piece panels like bumpers, complete one section fully before moving to the next.

Squeegee out the solution
Starting from the center, use your felt-edge PPF squeegee to push the slip solution outward toward the edges. Work in overlapping strokes. Apply firm, even pressure — you're bonding the adhesive to the paint. Any solution left trapped underneath will create a haze or bubble.
Never use a hard plastic squeegee directly on PPF. It will scratch or gouge the film. Felt-edge only.

Wrap the edges with heat
Use your heat gun on low-to-medium heat to warm the film around curves, edges, and body lines. Warm the film, then stretch it slightly around the edge, and press firmly with your thumb or squeegee. Hold for a few seconds until it sets. Work around the edge methodically — don't try to do a long stretch all at once.
Don't overheat. Hold the gun 6–8 inches from the surface and keep it moving. Overheating can permanently distort the film or damage clear coat.

Cure & inspect
Once the film is fully applied, do a final pass with the squeegee across the entire panel. Then inspect carefully for any trapped bubbles, lifted edges, or areas with poor adhesion. Small bubbles near edges may disappear on their own within 24–48 hours as the adhesive fully cures.

Do not wash the car for 48–72 hours. Avoid high-pressure washes and automatic car washes for at least 2 weeks. Hand wash only during the first month.
Self-healing activation: Minor surface scratches on PPF will heal with heat — park in the sun for a few minutes or use a heat gun briefly. This is normal and by design.
