2016–2023 Toyota Tacoma Hidden Armrest Storage: Fitment and Installation Guide
The center console of a third-generation Toyota Tacoma holds plenty of gear, but smaller items can disappear at the bottom. A hidden armrest box adds a separate, shallow space under the console lid. Here is how to check fit and use it effectively.
Which Tacoma models does it fit?
This style is designed for the 2016–2023 Toyota Tacoma. Open the center-console lid and compare its underside and recess with the product photos before ordering. An existing insert, replacement lid or console lockbox can change the available clearance. The 2024-and-newer Tacoma has a different interior, so do not assume this box fits it.
What does the box do?
The black ABS insert uses space on the underside of the armrest lid to keep small items separate from the main console bin. It is best for lightweight things such as cards, coins or a small key. The compartment is concealed from casual view, but it is not a lockbox and should not be relied on to secure valuables.
How to install and check it
- Empty the console and clean the underside of the lid.
- Compare the box with the matching recess and orient it as shown in the product photos.
- Fit it into place without forcing it, then open and close the lid to check the latch and clearance.
- Check the fit again after placing a few small items inside.
Avoid overfilling the box. If another accessory prevents the lid from closing normally, remove the insert rather than forcing the lid.
Cleaning and care
Wipe the box with a soft, lightly damp cloth and allow it to dry. Keep liquids and loose objects away from any electrical accessories in the console.
